We began with a simple wish to be able to communicate with more people. From that wish, we have been learning about ways of understanding the world through what we see, and about forms of communication that go beyond spoken words.

Our world is made up of people with many different backgrounds. Through the language of sign, we hope to explore how people communicate and support one another in everyday life. With this intention, we created a gathering called “Yurufuwa Sign Language Gathering” (“Yurufuwa” is a Japanese word suggesting a gentle, relaxed atmosphere.)

This is not a classroom, but a space where participants learn together and from one another. Those who have no experience with sign language are especially welcome. Please feel free to join us.
